What aircraft is this German propeller from?

Tue Feb 15, 2005 2:32 pm

Can anyone help me identify the aircraft that would have used a certain three bladed metal propeller brought up from the English channel some while ago?

The propeller hub carries the following markings stamped into it.

WNr 13 40 15

9-11081.25

F13 3? 66

On a component between the hub and a large toothed wheel is a component with the following stamped into it

9-11014.60

?HK3

?4067 (the latter is enclosed within a cartouche)

Do these numbers indicate when the aircraft it belonged to was lost? Was it only used between certain dates on the aircraft it was fitted to?

Is there anyone I can contact in Germany etc. such as the company that might have made it?

Any ideas or info will be gratefully recieved.

Geoff.

How about a pic? That would go along way in identifying the prop.

Dronezz,

That's fantastic news. I shall have to some research on the E-1 & E-3 now. No chance of tying it down to a particular aircraft I know, but it will serve as a nice memorial to all those aircraft that came down in the English Channel during the Battle of Britain etc.

Mike,

I have photos of the prop, and of the markings, but don't have the ability to post them on this forum. I can email them if they would help you, Dronezz, or anyone else confirm for certain the prop's origin.
