Was marsahlling on the ramp on Saturday what a magical place. As I sit here just watched two Harvard fly over thought that was neat, suddenly the awsome sound of those four Merlins as the Lancaster passed over my house. What a sight!

Wow.... looks like a magnificent day indeed. Wish I had been able to go too. They always treat you to a great show their, and couldn't be nicer people either. Great to see things went so well.

I tend to lurk around here and not say much, but I gotta jump in on this one.

What an amazing day!!!!!!!!!

Hats off to the whole Vintage Wings crew. The open house was OUTSTANDING! Within an hour and half of arriving, the four Vintage Wings fighters had already done their thing, and had teamed up with the Russell crew as well. What a sight to see the Corsair followed by two Spits and two Hurricanes as they practiced their formations for Sunday's BoB ceremony.

And then of course the Lanc arrived from Hamilton - the star of the show.

As a huge bonus, I just happened to be in the right place at the right time, chatting to a former Lanc pilot, when I was asked by one of the Vintage Wings crew to accompany a number of vets and their familes out to the Lanc and take pictures. What an honour to go on board and take photos of those guys in their old "office". To see their memories flood back as they boarded for the first time in over 60 years, to see them touch the controls again, to sit again at the navigator's table - truly a privilage to be there and share that moment with them.

To see the Lanc back up in later in the afternoon with her escort of Spitfires and Hurricanes was the icing on the cake. Stirring, and outstanding.

I've not posted pictures here before, but I will have to figure out how and get some up.

Again, many thanks to Mr. Potter and the whole Vintage Wings crew!

Wow, very cool photos! Canada is really gaining some momentum as an historical aviation country. I'm glad our neighbors to the North are starting to fly more and more warbirds! Most excellent!

Those pictures remind me of the historical aviation movement in Great Britain back in the 70's, before it was as widespread as it is now!

Now, somebody up there just needs a flyable Mossie! Hint, hint!!!

Question - Why does the Storch not have a Swatiska on the tail? Did it come from Germany, or is that considered "politically incorrect" in Canada?

Wheres the CWH's Lysander? i thought she was ready for flight? Also, how about the Bolingbroke? Will we ever get to see it fly?

I can appreciate Charles comments, I was on the ramp when an elderly couple asked if I would mind taking their picture together in front of the Lanc. They then proceeded to tell me they saw many fly over their home in the channel islands the only part of Britian occupied by the Nazi's in the war. They knew it was their only hope for liberation. The gentleman then told me he was the only surviving member of his resistance group on the island.
I made darn sure they were included with the vetrans who toured the Lanc,
Thanks to the CWH guys for making it happen.
Mike Potter derserves all the credit for making this happen and at no cost its quite unbelievable.

I was there too, flew in with two other planes from my home field. What a day this was !!!

CWH's Canso was also attending. As did an Alpha-Jet and a few others. The Storch is a 2/3 scale home-built powered by a Rotax engine I beleive. Cute ! Olie was there with his Fockwulfe as well.

I took a few pictures, but those posted above tell it all. Not only was entrance free of charge but all visiting crews got free lunch as well !

It's a Slepcev Storch - as Michel C-GNCJ said, a (3/4) scale modern version of the original Feischler Storch, designed in Australia by Nestor Slepcev originally from Yugoslavia.

The CWH Lysander hasn't yet flown, and isn't quite ready yet. I've been told 'next summer' for the last few summers, but it's easy to be demanding from the sidelines... And the Bolly has a long way to go. They will happen, though!

Perhaps it's time for the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight to trademark the name? :lol:
