Nice pic ,thanks. The B-36 is such an amazing aircraft. Would have been awesome to see one in flight. Does anyone have any info on the colour scheme?

I used to work with a guy who was ground crew on a 36. He told me a story about begging the Capt. to take him up for a flight, not realizing it would be a 20 hour deal! He said he had never been so bored in his life, having really no job on the plane once it was in the air.

I agree I would have loved to have seen AND heard one.
I believe that the Arctic Red paint scheme was put on some of the early B-36B models during the late 40s, perhaps very early 50s time period. I don't think it was ever used on the later B-36D and higher versions that had the 4 jet engines. Someone else may have more details on this.

Must of been a backbreaker to change.
This 29 paint looks close?

Looks like it would take a fork lift to move those chocks.

Looks like a B-50, not a B-29. Wrong engines.

FYI: A single main gear tire developed for the early B-36 is on display at the NMUSAF, Dayton, OH. It is displayed under the museums B-36 and the caption states that it is the largest tire ever developed.

Yes, that B-50 has the same type "Arctic Red" markings. Some of the RB-50 and I believe WB-50 variants had those colors.
