B2 BOMBER QUESTION ON MARKINGS?

Tue Sep 16, 2008 2:22 pm

Up to now I have only seen B2 bombers with the WHITE "WM" by the landing gear.

Now I see this one, and there is no markings at all? Does anyone know why?

Is this the "Spirit of Hawaii"? I can only see 00041. The Spirit of Hawaii is 90-0041.
Thanks for any help.

I googled the WM code, and it indicates Whitman AFB. (The base web page says the 509th and their B-2's are based there) So that makes sense.

Perhaps this particular B-2 had some work done recently and the code was not reapplied? :?

I would presume that it is the same B-2 (Spirit of Hawaii) if the 90-0041 matches. They only built a handful of B-2's to begin with.

When jets come out of depot maintenance, they get repainted and the markings must be reapplied at home station.

Depending on workload, it may take a while to get those markings back on.
