Yeah, this was back in 87 or 88 at Brown Field in San Diego.

Ok, lets see your old "I was soooo cool" pics!

This is gonna be fun

Here I am as a young lad with my Lego blimp
Image

Next up is playing in my first band (I'm on the left and I have naturally curly hair)
Image

And to make up for that here's one playing in my last band after I stripped my guitar and repainted it with Testors Olive Drab spray paint.

Yeah! You should have worn the Coors shirt when playing with the band!

Here is another one I found of my insane coolness back in the 80's

I wonder what that yellow tape was for?

Fun thread, Jesse!

Here is one Ellen shot of me at the Anderson, S.C. 250 Outdoor Nationals in '87, being lapped by Ricky Johnson.

Image

It's kind of a cool photo now, but at the time it was a sobering fact that I was a really slow old man compared to RJ, Jeff Ward, and the like. (And the fast guys would lap me four times in a 30-minute-plus-2-lap moto. :? )

Scott,
Just being able to ride with them and watch them ride must have been a treat. You think you were slow, you should have seen me in the trails here in Michigan...I think I have "tree radar!"
Regards,
Mark

I don't have any photos of myself earlier than the mid 90s as my folks still have them and I have gotten around to asking they send them to me...
Right after a P-51 ride to Panama City, Florida in formation with the Collings B-17 and B-24:

I have a series of prints somewhere of me breaching a door with a SF unit and going in with an MP-5 into the "kill house" going full auto. I gotta dig those up, they're my "ultimate bada$$" photos...

Nope. Getting lapped stinks on ice no matter who does it to you. I learned a lot about picking lines and other techniques watching them go by at warp 9. I've always been pretty competitive, and racing in my first National was a sobering revelation to me. The only real fun was sitting in line waiting for the check at the payback window. For three-digit numbers like me, finishing close to the top twenty was a near-victory.

Looking back, I did take out Mike Fisher at Millville in the first turn of a 500 moto one time--that was kind of fun since he was sort of a teammate of mine! :)

Here's one I've posted before. Selfridge AFB, 2 July, 1977..my dad took me and a couple of freinds to the airshow. This was the first time I'd ever seen a real B-17. The CAF was there with TR (sans turrets, and in that awful puke green paint job) AM927, and Fifi. My buddies and I were huge "Ba Ba Blacksheep" fans, and we were totally stoked to see a real Corsair, and some "real" Zeroes (when we learned they were actually modified Texans, it was kind of like finding out Santa wasn't real.)

I'm the one on the right, trying to look cool..my buddy Garry is the one in the groovy plaid polyester slacks. Incidentally, I still have that CAF souvenier book (albeit considerably more beat up.)

Image

Here's one from a couple of years later out in front of the NMUSAF. I'm the one in the middle with "that '70s hair." My buddy Garry is on right, with a horrifically politically incorrect Confederate flag hat, and his brother Larry is on the left.

Image

Cheers!

Steve
