Has anyone heard anything new from The Anglo American Lightning Organization?

Today at Payerne, Swizerland, a civilian registered Mirage III, HB-RDF, ex J-2012, made its first flight after restoration to fly. Find more pictures here:

Rare jet warbirds

The Vulcan is now flying in UK.

In France, several Vampires (ex Swii Air Force) are currently flying.

There is an ex BAF F-104G restored to flying conditions in the US.

A few days ago, I read on WIX that a F-7 had been restored by Vought and flown, no date quoted.

Querstion....Is there a composit list of the Civil owned/operated former miltary fast movers where the Civil Owners have "title" to their aircraft, and which ones are "on loan" from the USAF in the U.S.?

Are there any Cougars or Panthers in flyable condition? I know that the Cavanaugh Museum has a Panther that is flyable and there was another one that was badly damaged in a crashed within the last 10 years or so? Any others?

I'd love to see a civilain owned and operated F-102 or F-106 but I would think that the money required would make it almost impossible. Not to mention finding spare parts... Speaking of which, has anything happened with the El Paso Darts lately??

Willy, by "F-7," I assume you mean the F7U Cutlass? I do not believe that any example of this has been restored to flyable status or is likely to in the foreseeable future.

Not that I would mind seeing it if it were possible.....

I hope that the Cavanaugh Panther is put back in the air in time for the 100th Anniversary of Naval Aviation (2011) and the 60th Anniversary of the Korean War (2010-2013), but we will see.

I would love to see a Cougar flying, also.

F-7U Cutlass

Jim,

There was a thread with someone posting period manufacturer's pictures of various Vought aircraft.

A picture of a vice-president of the company entering or leaving the cockpit of a Cutalss was captioned as mr I don't remember the name, flew this aircraft restored to flying condition by retired employees.

Thread is possibly located in the stickys.

I will check and let you know.

F-7U Cutlass

This is Paul Thayer who at the time I believe was President of Vought and later became Chairman and CEO. He is also the one that crashed the CAF's FG-1D Corsair when he took it for a test flight right after Vought restored it.

Maybe, long time ago.

Thanks for the link, Willy. Great Cutlass shots. But I didn't see any captioned as you mentioned, but I could have missed it.

Interesting pictures of the restoration of the F6U Pirate, also.

F-18

The F-18 parts kilby owned were the wings, tails, canopy and 1 set of gear. The fuselage and another set of gear belonged to air capitol. From what i understand there was a guy in California that had the motors and a friend in Quebec (the info source) was going to sell them the wheels tires and brakes and the information from him was that the nose cone came from a guy in oklohoma.
