In Taylorsville, Indiana. Anybody have any idea what he was building? My mother was born there in '44. He wasn't allowed to join up because he was the sole source of income for his wife, two kids, and all his brothers and sisters and his mother (his father had died) INstead he was sent to Indiana to make airplanes. He and two older men were the only men in the factory--the rest were women.

It would be kind of neat to be able to show my Mom what he made there.

Taylorsville is south of Indy, near Columbus on 31. I didn't know of an aircraft factory there. A component sub-contractor maybe?

There was a canning factory in Edinburgh.

Maybe try one of the libraries down there.

Central Manufacturing in Connersville built a part of the B-24 fuselage....nose section I believe. I used to have a link to all the ww2 manufacturing in Indiana and what they made. I'll keep looking.
