Jon, yours aren't cut, but that airframe has other issues. There are better, more complete candidates out there.

I'm think that one had the mounts cut on it as well.

I believe it's also Frontiers of Flight's aircraft, but I can't remember all of the ones that are "on loan". I know that Needles or FG1D Pilot do. :)

The Cavanaugh example is a NMUSAF loan to Frontiers of Flight but it is on indefinite display at Cavanaugh. The mounts in it are fine but the rest of the airframe is rough.

That and the crazy amount of money to keep it maintained.[/quote

Shhhhhhhhh! dont tell the anybody but a F-4 is flying today that could too

I know, but there is a real difference (I think anyhow), between can do it, and was designed specifically to do it.

There were 3 F-105s at Yanks Air Museum in June of last year. I don't know if they belong to the museum or on loan or something. But they are were there. :?: Another visitor standing outside when I was going in said yanks was planning on taking the 3 of them and get 1 up in airworthy condition for the museum. I have no idea if he knew what he was talking about or not, but it sounds good.

There's 9 now. One was shipped off to OK. They are all single seat aircraft, I think they are B models.

Not sure which one went to OK, but 318 "Red River Queen" went to Centralia, IL and was put on display in the city's park. The late Lieutenant Colonel William Pachura earned two Distinguished Flying Cross awards while operating this aircraft, known as the "Red River Queen", during the Vietnam War.

i sent the pictures to a former F-105 mechanic.. he'll let me know when he gets them if the mounts are in the pictures.. If it is what I think they are I would be easy to change..

If that were strickly the case then none of the F-104s would be flying either.

Maybe there is hope.
