Ok, so John Sessions was flying the "Virgin" and Greg Anders was in "He11-er Bust" (STOOPID filter). Who was flying the 109 (John Penney; I just read in another thread) and Upupa?

Sorry I had to miss the ops.

It is my honor to post pictures, there is no way in my opinion to show the gratitude I feel to the greatest in history, but if a few pictures will help remind people of the struggle they had to fight then in a very very small way I think I may have done my part!?! I believe that all on WIX is doing their part in preserving the memories and history! Thank you to all for contributing you guys and gals........ :supz: :supz: :supz: :!: :!: :!: :!:

I was a day late and a dollar short, literally. I'd never been to the field before and had an opportunity to go for the first time today. Everyone was telling me, "You should have been here yesterday," but ti's still a neat place to visit!

Did you stop by FHC or the MOF restoration shop or the future of flight? I know you didn't stop by the 262 Project as we were closed how about Kilo 6? Nice weather we are having today?

I went by the FHC and the Future of Flight, the MoF was closed. I didn't even try to go by the 262 facility after reading on their website that they don't do tours unless you coordinate ahead of time. The only reason I was in the area was I had to take my wife to SeaTac for a business trip and had the whole day in the Seattle area to myself. I live about halfway between Seattle and Portland, so I never get north of Seattle normally. I took plenty of photos at FHC, just haven't gotten through them yet. I really wish I could have gotten some shots at Boeing, especially after seeing the first four 787s sitting on the production line! This must be a recent photo as it's pretty much what I saw yesterday. I just wish it was bigger: Image The 747 "Dreamlifter" was really neat as well. I saw two of these sitting at the time: Image

P-51,
It's unfortunate that yopu couldn't get here for Saturday's event, it was very-very powerful and well executed with a great dignity and grace.
Just enough light thin cloud cover that Epupa sort of melted into the clouds as she soared away up and West, it couldn't have been done better by a movie studio-it was beauty and grace and about tore your heart out to witness, I know that it was hard taking pictures through wet eyes.

Again a very large THANK YOU to Mr. John Sessions for participating in that event.

If you take the Boeing tour, you won't get within 3/8ths of a mile (literally) of the 787 line, the tour takes you to the third level of the 40-32 building where you can look down on the 747 wing/body join area.
The photo in your post is from about early May of this year in the foreground is Z-1, #1 87, then behind it are Z 9997 and Z9998 the two structural test mules. 997 is the structural test 'donkey' and is in the Iron Maiden test rig being slowly manipulated to eventual structural limits. 998 is the cycles mule, it will be pressurized and de-pressurized (a cycle) to simulate 40 years of useage (the airframe life guarantee).

I see an awful lot of folks watching from behind the chain link fence. Was this the best view of the action? Or, did these people opt not to pay the museum admission for a closer look?

I shot from the parking lot which didn't require admission. There are alot of places to view from that are free which is nice. The advantage to being where those people are is it's closer to the viewing area by the runway so they are likely to get better spots. I went for better lighting and taxiing shots.

Not so. I took the tour in mid-June, and yes, we were looking down on the first four 787s, but we were a lot closer than ~2000 feet! More like a wingspan and a half or so from no. 1. We had an excellent view of Ship 1 - directly abeam her. Ship 1 was pretty much nose to the doors in June, getting ready for rollout in Nov/December this year, IIRC. No photos allowed, of course.

Wade

That's odd, because the tour I took on Sunday took us within less than 200 feet of the production line and I got a great view of the first fours 787s, just like Wade just described. Yes, it started over at the 747 line but then it went into the building that houses the 777 line and the 787s were on the other side. Maybe they recently started doing that? If I'd been allowed to bring a camera, I could have gotten a photo like the one I posted, only from not quite a 3/4 angle, but it would have been from about that distance.
