Made up this little tribute to D-Day for my WWII wall. The D-Day pictures coincide with the jars of sand in the lower case.
Got the sand from each of the D-Day beaches during our tour in July.
Yeah...the people on the tours thought I was kinda' weird, putting sand in ZipLocs.

OK...OK...It has nothing to do with airplanes. Just thought some of you might be interested.

Mudge,
nice display, Remember, SGT. Horvath on Saving Pvt, Ryan collected a can of dirt from all of the landings he was on. Oh, and the others on the tour found out what we have known all along, YOU ARE WEIRD! :)

Mudge,
A v-e-r-y nice tribute...no matter what needling you get from others. Museum quality and much appreciated by me.
As for the other comments...isn't there something about stones & glass houses??
:D
I have been doing some similar collecting, perhaps the oddest being some pieces from the rusting "display" of the USS Maine in Havana (collected by a friend and sent to me). He just picked them up off the ground from around the "display".
Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing.
Can't wait to see what you will do from your Battle of the Bulge tour.

Nice Display! Very nice.

When I was at Omaha all I picked up was a shell and a small rock. Wish I would have grabbed some sand. I do have some sand (more like tiny rocks) from Iwo that my cousin brought me.

I have a treasured vial of Iwo sand as well, brought back by a friend from the group that filmed The League of Grateful Sons.
