Are you serious? How can one be charged with "speeding" when no law officer was there to observe the original offense, which wasn't even on a road?

I don't think I've posted on this thread yet, but I want to say that I think that it would be the high road to take Hunter1's advise -whether or not we have facts. Maybe something was done wrong, and maybe all you guys are right about what happened, but that doesn't mean we have to let this turn into a gossip fest. Some of it is just sick, and we should probably let the authorities sort it out. Why try to hurt a fellow performer or aviation buff? Ok, so maybe you don't like her personality, or have a beef - how would you feel. Does anyone around here remember the Golden Rule?

Does fame give you a free ride??? I guess we'll find out :?

Yes! But I errored in that it was a previous citation.

You "erred"? Nah, you posted total sugar that a simple google check would show was such. A speeding ticket in 2005! Oh, my, how is she still paid to fly airshows. You people are a joke.

"Does fame get you a free ride"? Yeah, sounds to me like Patty's getting a "free ride".

these are facts.
Not signing your name doesn't exactly bring weight to your comments

Yeah, you signed your name and we see how much weight your "FACTS" had.

I was wrong and admitted it and you can't accept that. Oh well.
The really sad thing is that if this was Joe Nobody you would care less. :!:

Not true, I've been a critic of AirVenture since Tom took over and took the fun (and warbirds) out of it, and dislike the fascist tinge America has taken on since the Department of Homeland Naziism and the TSA came into being. What's the old saying, those who would give up freedom for security deserve neither, or something like that?

As a photographer who's at 15-18 airshows a year, I can say that common sense and security often tend to be opposing concepts. That's the real shame.

There has been quite a bit of mis-information regarding this case !

I am quickly loosing respect for many of you regarding your posts on this topic.

PWAS is one of the most professional and dedicated individuals in the airshow industry and frankly if you WERE NOT THERE, then YOU CAN NOT BE 100% SURE THAT YOU HAVE THE ABSOLUTE FACTS.

I suggest that you let PWAS, her legal team, and those that WERE THERE deal with matter with the same professionalism that Patty exhibits in her flying and daily life. This site would be much better served discussing Warbird matters that do not stray into territory that does not concern many of you.

I am not at all surprised at what I have been reading here concerning this "incident" involving Patty Wagstaff. I am however deeply disappointed in what I am seeing here.

The air show community is a diverse community comprised of people actively involved in the business and on the other side of the equation a legion of aviation "enthusiasts" that make up the "fan base" for the community.

Through the years, display pilots and demonstration pilots working in the venue have worked extremely hard to develop a relationship with the fans that is genuine, honest, and based on a foundation built in premise that the trust placed in our professionals isn't misplaced.

Patty Wagstaff works with me on issues directly related to keeping the pilots in her profession safer. She, does this on her own time, and with no fanfare.
Patty Wagstaff is a professional.

I don't know if my opinion means anything around here, as few of you would know me if you fell over me, but I'm here to inform you that Patty Wagstaff has communicated with me after this incident and told me she is innocent of these charges. I have every belief that what happened and the circumstances that caused the incident to deteriorate into the unfortunate situation that developed out of this deterioration will at the time it's aired explain fully what actually happened at Oshkosh.

I would respectfully suggest to you that your speculation about what "might have happened" be replaced by showing some faith in Patty's word.

I have known many kinds of "fans" in this business. Most are smart, savvy people who are not prone to pre-judgment.

Then there is the "other kind" of fan. These people would come to a show and watch as I had a spar failure coming out of a vertical causing me to dig a 6 foot hole in the middle of show center. It would take about 3 seconds for this type of "fan" to turn to the person next to them and in an "authoritative" voice, explain to that person exactly what it was that I had done wrong.

Which kind of fan are YOU?

I'd like to think that the fans on this forum are not the pre-judgment part of the equation.

Just what kind of equipment does Wisconsin have that can clock you speeding when the officers were not even on the field according to posts? From what has been posted she was stopped by Nazi security gestopo who then called Sherriffs' deputys.

They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.

Has anyone here ever gotten lost and driven on to a runway? I think not. This is not a case of some EAA guys getting tough with her. It's a case of someone doing something wrong. Why is it such a big deal. Because she should know better. If it was some average Joe off of the street that did this, we would want to hang him, and toss him in jail. But it was someone that is in the club. Someone that knows. We expect more from someone like that. It's not fair to say that people are just bashing her just to do it. Unless people are just being mean and tasteless, then whatever.
What does speeding have to do with this at all? If you are on a runway, then it really doesn't matter does it? You also don't need a Sherriff to tell you something isn't right in that case.

Some of the stuff on this thread IS mean and tasteless...
Also, if you or I did this, you might hear one or two paragraphs in some little newspaper, and then it'd be left to the courts. This thread, and the number of times it has been viewed, show that this is attracting public opinion, getting publicity, and frankly, dragging mud over the situation before anything's officially proven, probably making it harder for the people who need to be objective with the situation, do so.
And yes, we should expect more, but do so the right way.
