I believe you aren't "buying a ride" you are making a "donation" to the Collings Foundation. Same as other museum "rides."

except it says....
They are now taking deposits for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take a flight in their Me 262.
Are they taking deposits on donations?
We played the ride game in the B-25 all the time but we were limited not experimental

I think Yankee Lady is in Experimental category but I could be wrong.

I've known about this for quite a long time, but was sworn to secrecy by the kid (262crew) I'll let him expand a bit but all of you James Bond types might want to go back to photos posted here over the last few months from 262crew that captioned 'they look good together' now turn in your secret decoder rings, you Fearless Fosdicks couldn't sniff out a skunk in a small room- :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :!:

I'm not sure what you mean here, but the Collings Foundation getting a 262 has been common knowledge for well over a year and a half, if not longer.
This is not real news yet.
When they actually start the ride program and we see the aircraft out and about, that will be the big news!

Jerry,

They've been wanting to purchase a Me-262, but the change in ownership just took place. I always thought they were going to buy the third airframe, but I guess they went with purchasing the first plane from the lawyer in Arizona.

I think that's great that they just settled up on the transfer. It sounded like a done deal a while ago, but I was never privy to that kind of info. I can't wait to see that jet zipping around the skies!
Have I heard correctly that it is going to be 15K for an experience in the 262?

If you get a letter of wiaver (or exemption/exception depending on how you word it) from the FAA, you can do it.

One of the few things I've always liked about the FAA - just about everything is waiverable or ammendable. But the other edge of the sword is that while you may be able to do it, if you do something to jeapordize that wiaver/ammendment expect to get it pulled real quick, and if you (God Forbid) get in an accident that is traceable back to that letter, then expect to not have a license or any money when it's over.

Let me apologize to everyone who was confused by my statement when I said they look good together (meaning 909 and white 1)I was not trying to hint at the possibility of the Collings foundation getting one of our aircraft it was me simply stating an opinion. So to The inspector and JimH and everyone at CF I am very sorry :!:        :!: However they do look really good together in the air :!: :!: :!: :!:
