Just to put a point on the preceding message -

The powers that be (Airport Authority, FAA, etc) made it extremely clear that there would be no public in an area where the aircraft operate. If you were there, you would have noticed that all aircraft in the North (Static) ramp were tugged out before any engines were fired.

Since the South ramp, and taxiway, were open for operations from 0700 until nearly sunset each day, there was no way we could allow unescorted guests into these areas. The Harvards fired up around 0730 amd operations didn't slow down. After the show, performers were taking guests for rides. Even the rain didn't slow things down. Obviously, some of the people on the photo tour decided that this rule did not apply to them, and had to be taken back to the static ramp. Sorry, we didn't make these rules, but we had to live with them, and suffer the consequences if and when the rules were broken.

A few people were escorted out to the aircraft on the south end. They asked for an escort, and waited until operations allowed me the chance to take them there. Believe me, there wasn't much time during the show to do this. As you would believe, patience and courtesy worked wonders.

I can't see this policy changing in the foreseeable future, so there probably will be limited, if any access, to some areas of the ramp where flight operations take place. This is just the way things must be if we continue to operate an airshow at this airport. It caused a lot more grief for us than it probably did for you. Get used to it.

Well, I finally got a few minutes to work on some photos. What a fantastic show it was. Many interesting formations and what an incredible Wildcat aerobatic display. I’m very interested to know who the pilot was.

Here are some of the Thunderbolt shots.

I feel a little late to the party here.
By the looks of all the posts; if anything happened that wasn't photographed I'd be amazed.

Outstanding work by all.

Here are a few of mine I hope are a little different.

MIG 21 made a pass or two on arrival.

Nice photographs by everyone.

Just got home at 1:00 am last night after some miserable weather related delays at the airport, have yet to even peek at my pictures, thanks for the refresher from the show, great photography by everyone. Nice meeting all the WIX crew that were able to attend.

Forgive me if I missed it - but who's flying the P-51B with his baseball cap backwards? Doesn't look like Jack R. Is it Jimmy Leeward?

Just got back from an extended camping trip to Michigan which included both days of TOM. On Sunday I was only about 20 yards away from the line guy that was injured and taken out by air ambulance. I only caught him going down and hitting the pavement - didn't see if he had fallen off of the tug, or tripped over the tow bar, or what. Any word on if he is okay???

Yes, Jimmy Leeward was flying Roush's P-51B.
