B-17Gs 401st BG Winter 1944/45 at Deenethorpe, England #1 is "Tagalong" which flew 48 missions with the
last being with Lt Howlin and crew on 4-20-1945.

At the 8th AF Museum in Savanah, Ga there is a really big diorama of this airfrield for the 401st...If you ever get a chance to get down that way stop in! Nice pic Jack!

One of the classic Deenethorpe photos.

As well as Tagalong, also visible are two of the 615th Bomb Squadron's PFF ships:
IY-M 44-8371 Batland Bat II (13 Missions)
IY-H 42-97636 (23 missions)

Over on the left side is IY-O 43-38779 Rough but Right (27 missions), and hiding behind her is UC-64A 43-35436, assigned to the 401st and on the 615th's strength for admin purposes.

I'd better post one of my favourite Deenethorpe photos, while we're on the subject of the 401st BG:

This photo was taken facing directly back along the line the first one in this thread was taken, just a few months later.

Part numbers not so much (still learning), but I do get told off for waffling on about on serial, block and contract numbers when identifying airframes from photos.... :wink:
