Folks

As soon as I saw this slide that my father took in 1952 in Shearwater Nova Scotia I knew you guys would appreciate it...

I've got a few others I'm in the process of scanning... P-51s, B-25s, Lancs, Sabres, Sea Furys, etc... So stay tuned...

This is an aircraft from No. 103 (S&R) Flight at Shearwater. From the two-colour roundel and three letter code, picture may have been taken earlier than 1952, maybe as early as 1947 to 1949. Can't wait to see the rest of these!

I don't think he took the picture that early. He only joined the AirForce in July of 1949. I know he did not own a camera up to that point. Immediately upon joining he went to Trenton for a year's basic and technical traning (I have a copy of his service record)

I think this was for an Airfirce day show in Shearwater in early 52 or maybe late 51...

In the collection he has a large number of pictures of wartime Lancs that were going for some sort of overhaul/upgrade... I've even got pictures of him working on a Lanc in Bermuda... Not much in Bermuda in htose days...
