It may be a while. AFAIK, the only two Jumo powered 190 projects that were to be restored to flying condition were both canned. I'm afraid the closest we will see will be Tom Blair's Allison Flug Werk 190 in Florida fly.

Regarding the BMW powered variant on the website, that's no surprise. Whoever designed the website knows nothing about W.W.II aircraft, as there are several mistakes throughout it.

Is this the ex Champlin 190 that Dave Goss restored? If it is, it's about
99% airworthy.

On a similar note, I am trying to get a flight video of the Ki-84 when it was in Chino.

I posted some pics a good while back.

I wonder if FHC will maybe do engine runs or maybe consider doing some "fast taxi's" similar to what the New Zealander's used to do with their "Oscar." Even an engine run-up on the ramp next to the Bf109 would be spectacular!

Do you mean you are trying to obtain that, or that you already have it?

BTW, the Frank left in the early 70's, IIRC, so it would have been documented on film. Other than professional gear, video for consumers didn't come around until much later.

I'm sure someone out there has at least 8mm film of the Frank flying, but you would have to get it professionally transferred to digital video to post it. Other than videotaping a projection of the film on a movie screen, there's really no way to upload it on the internet without professional services to first convert it to a digital format.

BTW, I've been looking for quite some time for film and/or video of the Frank in flight also. I've never seen movies of that airplane before. It has got to be quite rare, as I've been searching for it for over 25 years. If you get a copy, I would be interested!

I was in contact for a while with a person whom was frequenting Astroboy Zero fighter world forum berofe Astroboy sadly lost his battle with cancer.

And he actually had an old VHS vid of an actual flight of the KI84. Which he gave a copy I was told to someone whom gave it to Chiran.

His name was Doug X & he was involved with the restoration of the San Diego Zero....rings any bell anyone ?

The ex Champlin D-13 is the one now owned by P. Allen. It was never flown while @ Mesa because no one could figure out how to hook up the aileron push/pull tubes as they were way off vertically. When Goss took it in to refurb it, I believe someone from NASM was visting or on the phone and said theirs were also off vertically but in the opposite direction...................................................................................HMMMM lets compare pictures and see..........sonnnymygunnie!! when the aircraft were disposed of after WW twice, the Smithsonian guys grabbed the wrong set of wings. A quick swap came to pass and now both fuselages are remated to their original wing sets.

It was neat today to listen to and watch the Hurricane and I-16 RATA fly in pretty stiff winds too! The Hurri has a completely different , mellower tone that the SPIT and way mellower than the P-51, and as for the RATA-
LOUD PIPES SAVE LIVES!! That was fun hearing all those little short stacks popping and snapping-are there any B-25 types reading this? a full set of Claytons would do the trick!!!
