Any of you know the story about this T-28 or?

a t-28 tail dragger??? bite your tongue!! i recognize the pontoon in the bacckground as a curtiss seamew if i'm not mistaken......... a real turkey, & not much of a flying fish either.

It's the Grumman Duck 'replacement' the Columbia XJL-1.

Dunno about that funny NA product tho.

XSN2J. Between the T-6 & T-28. Only 1 prototype built, IIRC.

Yeah my guess was going to be the N.A."Super T-6" which later evolved into the T-28A and behind it the Columbine "Superduck" which was to replace the Grumman J2f Duck series.

The one and only GLOBE competitor in the trainer competetion still exists (I've forgotten the designator-XT-41??) and is based here in the Western Washington area-

The TEMCO/Globe T-35 was in competition for an Air Force trainer contract, not Navy.

The T-35, XNQ-1, and T-34, were the competitors for the USAF T-6 replacement which the T-34 won. The Navy competition (which the XNQ-1 was originally designed to compete in) was not "won" by either aircraft and the Navy stayed with the T-6 until the XSN2J was redesigned into the T-28 for the Air Force and bought by the Navy.
