This wreckage does not appear to be from a B-29 as the video states, but what is it from? A Japanese type?

not a b-29.... & possibly doubtful on the japanese theory ... the debri field is to big for japanese i.d. , & the debri metal wise is to thick for japanese, as many japanese planes were built like beer cans & wouldn't last in that salt environment. the prime clue is the fluted machine gun muzzle.... non existent on any b-29. raf or raaf i'd say.

B-32?

Hmmm? Interesting.
Four-blade prop with spinner, machine-gun barrel with a flash eliminator (so ruling out US .50cal) in what looks like a dorsal turret, maybe a Kawanishi H8K 'Emily'?
Spinner doesn't look pointy enough for an H6K 'Mavis'.
Anyone else?
Cheers,
Matt

The one gun barrel visible, and the turret it is in, don't look like anything Allied I'm familiar with. The spar box is BIG, or the diver next to it is really little. Also appears to have some straight sided fuselage panels, not circular like a B-29. Possibly a large Japanese flying boat?
Added a few minutes later: A quick look thru Google images turned up this site,
http://hafa-adive.blogspot.com/2007/09/h8k-emily-pictures.html. Looks like the same wreck, and this author identifies it as an H8K. I think I agree with him.

An Emily was my first thought on seeing the turret... but I'm still not totally sure.

I concur with the Emily..that sure looks like and H8K nose turret. Engine also looks right for an H8K as well. Definately a Japanese product, and the center section is too large for a twin.

So, do I win a pony?

The still photos confirm it's an Emily. The nose turret and engine are the same, and there's a section of what's clearly a flying boat hull.
