Those buildings are still there, & that ramp is now a road. Seem to recall there being a haulage company in the hangars?

Beginning around May, 1950 the Fuerza Aerea Uruguaya (Uruguayan Air Force or FAU) acquired a number of NAA F-51Ds as well as N.A.A. B-25s and conducted their training at the Glendale, CA airport.
I don't know if this photo is from that era, but the number of Mustangs, plust the B-25s would indicate something along these lines. The Mustangs had been taken from Kelly Field, TX and moved to Glendale, for inspection and repairs, previous to the long ferry flight to Montevideo; there were a couple of C-47s that were employed to carry mechanics and spare parts back home.
So, if you could provide a date for that photo, it would help greatly to tie it to a specific event, hopefully the FAU Mustangs . . .

I'm in this area just about everyday. I often take the different streets where the airport used to be and think about what it must of been like in it's heyday. Here are some pics and great info:

If you review Paul Freemans website for Grand Central you'll discover other WWII A/C of interest once located there.
