Maj Webb's 51 needs a little more than some maintenance!
The inner gear doors look a little short. The spinner has a good size whack in it as well.

Bald Eagle, hmmm, sounds familiar.

Seeing the time-line on the back of his hand ... we still do that ... write on canopies, whatever works best. I was trying to give a guy in my squadron a phone number recently when he said, "Wait, I'll put it in my palm pilot" ........ and proceeded to write in in his hand. 8)

Typically the inner doors being ground down like that comes from a couple of things:
1- Gear handle not fully down into it's detent. The inner doors open fully but the mains are still latched in the up position. Pilot thinks gear is down because the gear handle has been moved.
2- Gear linkage to uplocks broke. Mains couldn't move as uplocks can't be moved.
3- Cockpit gear handle broke off while selecting gear down. Pilot waves handle around in his hand why using choice language.
2 and 3 are best handled by having the Shuttleworth hook grabber to reach the uplocks and move so gear will unlock and having vice grips under seat cushion to grab stub of gear handle and manually hold down pressure on it to finish gear sequence.

Broke can come from a variety of means. Getting shot up is one of them.
