I've been in radio for almost 15 years. The pay sucks, but the job is fun. Plus, I've gotten a few freebie media flights..including hops on Fuddy Duddy and Aluminum Overcast.

Before that, I worked a forgetable string of burger-flipping and factory jobs. The closest I've been to an "aviation related" occupation was when I worked at this now long-gone restaurant in Erie, Colorado back in the early 80s.

I had a close friend who was a co-pilot on Convairs and Electras for them out of Willow-Run.

I'm working on this ramp now... Just started Monday! I'm working part time while I study for a CFI rating - which I'm finding out is quite a lot of work by itself!

I'm currently training on that older fuel truck on the left.

The hanger is on the extreme left in this photo.

The picture with all of the helicopters was from last year's "great hurricane scare"... we don't normally see that many.

When were you at the 89th? I was there from 1968 to 1975. Do you get back to the reunions?

I was there in 2003-04 with DynCorp. They have the maintenance contract for the 89th, everything except Air Force One. I worked there while on furlough from UAL.

Looks like the Tobin hangar can use a new roof.

Several of those hangars could really use some TLC. I'm trying to give the one I'm at some. I'd like to know just how old they are .
I reckon the Tobin one must at least keep the water out. That's where the AirLife helicopter$ are.

After 7 years with Dan Denney building Kitfoxes we went to something a bit faster...

The second Thunder Mustang-Tommy Rose's N7TR-August 19, 1998-a little less than 5 months before first flight.

August 15, 1998 shot shows wing progress too.

I am 6' 2" and am sitting on a parachute in the backseat. The 3/4-scale dual control replica, with it's little over 5/8 scale wing has lots of backseat room. The date here is Sept 9, 1999.

My best years working were the years we were building Thunder Mustangs!

Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures, but I did get to fly in some "warbirds" when I worked for the Border Patrol. We used OH-6's when I was there. I got to fly along as observer a few times. We had newer MD-500's and MD-600's, but the pilots preferred the old OH-6's. Some of the OH-6's had bullet hole patches as they had seen service during the Vietnam war. One had a patch right under the pilot's seat.

This was taken after we were honored by the VAW-113 Black Eagles for making a music video to keep up their spirits. That is me second in from the right.

Hey I recognize that spot..I trundle past that in the EFA Super Decathlon whenever it's time to park it in the old T's (or get it out from there).

The only aviation related job was a ramp boy for Chaparral Airlines...bought out by American Eagle and I lost my job to the AA union goons..

Currently working at American Bearing Co...and no we can't sell any bearings that fly...our lawyers aren't big enough for that...ground use only...
