This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

I want to ask a favor of ALL OF YOU OUT THERE who regularly come back to see what new pix have been posted. This is my request: ONCE, just once, send a "thank you" to Army Junk 2. He has been feeding this thread for a year, and he's not even an aviation nut. He is doing a tremendous service for the rest of us, at considerable expense in time, and Lord knows what else. He most certainly doesn't have to...so a show of appreciation would encourage him by showing that there are more than a dozen or so who can't wait for the next batch of photos. There is a handful of chaps who periodically cheer him on, but I bet they represent a tiny amount of the regular viewers. So please take a moment to just say "thanks"!

The a/c shown on the carrier's deck are indeed (Avengers and) Wildcats, not Hellcats. Though easy to confuse from that angle, the discrete fairing extending from the cockpit to the vertical fin is a dead giveaway. Btw, the photo's info states "FM" which means these Wildcats were produced by GM, and indeed they do show a taller vertical fin.
Thanks again, AJ2

I'm on the road and don't get much chance to check in, so I was staggered to see the additions to your postings, armyjunk. Thank you,
big time!
