FAR Part 91.146 only applies to groups using aircraft with a standard category air worthiness certficate. Most if not all of the larger aircraft like the B-17's and B-24's are not operating in the standard category. The B-17's are on a limited category certificate, and the B-24s are on an experimental certificate.

The Collings Foundation, EAA, Yankee Air Museum, and several others have an exemption letter from the FAA that allows them to offer the flight experiences in historic aircraft. The limitations are very similiar to 91.146, but there is no standard airworthiness certificate requirement. The exemption letters were around 15 years or so before FAR 91.146. That FAR was just put into place in the past 18 months (last August if I remember correctly). There are some other museums that use the "rides" as a membership benefit, and are not on an exemption letter like the groups listed above.

I've got most ( I hope :D ) of the B-17's, both B-24's on the links page of my website ~ including the current status regarding rides .....

The B-25 listing is limited to those that do offer rides or have asked me to add them to the list !
