There are several more pilots that are currently qualified to fly the P-38 than even those already named, including John Maloney, Rod Lewis, Rob Ator, Gunny Perdue, and Nelson Ezell. Though of course Hinton has more hours flying a P-38 than any current P-38 pilot. Some day, I would love to see his log book!
And of course, you could always invite TFC's chief Pilot Pete Kynsey, and his boss Stephen Grey!
After all both flew the late lamented TFC example, and although it's been a while since they flew one, I'm sure they'd soon be at home again.
I assume Stephen Grey would be able to fly a P38 in the US, and not be stopped as he would be here by some ill thought out JAR regulation that stops him flying arcraft over a certain weight and engine configuration, due to his age and a past medical condition that was succesfully treated?
Btw, good to see you posting here John.
Cheers
