well, if TF bought it, maybe it will not stay a Princess long, All of his planes have the fighting eagle on the side, so maybe Shangri-la will be making a return. I do like the blue noses, but for me, there is no other paint scheme for a B model than Shangri-la

Tom Friedkins but I'm pretty sure it was Sonny boy who bought it, not Papa.

Oh, Princess has been sold? Shows how out of the loop I usually am if so.

Gentile is always a good choice, but with the Malcolm Hood making a comeback, I'd love to see Kidd Hofer's Salem Representative. A more flamboyant WWII ace you'll likely not find - he amazed his superiors by scoring a victory on his very first mission, and he didn't stop there. Pretty paint job, too.

EDIT - just read through this thread ... I thought this was another thread about Princess. Oh, BTW, "Do whatever the f**k you want!" (from the bike ad Jim posted), usually has a second part: ". . . and you better choose "whatever" correctly!".

:?: I thought that it was Doug Champlin who was enamored of the fighting eagle, and it appears only on Friedkin's airplanes that were bought from Champlin and have not been repainted? :?: Anyway it does not (thank goodness!) appear on his Spitfires or Hurricane at least.

I have never seen it on any of Champlins planes, and I was there when the museum opened. I saw them forst the first time, other than on Shangri-la, at oceanside.

I wonder if he's moving away from the fighting eagle on his birds because it seems everything that's been restored or repainted doesn't have it anymore... I.E.- TF-51 "DF*X" / P-51D "Double Trouble Two" / F6F Hellcat / F8F Bearcat and the already mentioned Hurricane and Spitfires... I guess it doesn't matter 'cause he has a beautiful collection THAT FLIES and that's what really matters... Thanks Mr. Friedkins !!!

Any estimated time frame on the next orphan?

Awesome, just be sure to start a new thread or have Rich start one, so we can follow along as you "unwrap" your new present! We're all interested in your new "orphan"!

Was it Fred or Achmed that will be coming?
Rich

Behave ourselves??
Achmed and the boys will be the perfect guests.
The spitfire is coming along nicely
I know Rich can't wait !!

This was one of those things that happened pretty quick but it was more for family harmony than anything. If I had to put Princess in a magazine the language chosen in this ad would fit my predicament perfectly .... (ps I'm even selling a few dirt bikes anyone interested?)

OMG!!!! That ad is the funniest thing I've read in quite some time! Sorry to hear you parted with Princess, Jim B. -- I'm not a P-51 fan, but IMHO, she's just gorgeous...........Could almost make me a convert!

Wow, that's a pretty brazen thing to say on this board! :D

I thought everyone here liked P-51's.

What kind of fan are you?
