Just wondering if anyone knows what happened to his aircraft. Here's shots of the Spitfire and Mustang in his hangar in the late 1970s, maybe early 1980s.

I believe that and the Corsair in there belonged to the New England Air Museum.

Those photos were taken at the New England Air Museum's hangar pre-1979.
They were on temporary loan and the museum did a cosmetic restoration to the Spit. The Mustang was a flyer and I believe at one point Len sold the P-51 and later repurchased it. At one point, it had a forced landing due to an engine failure in North Carolina. Landed on a highway and chewed up a station wagon in about 1973-74.
See: http://www.mustangsmustangs.com/p-51/su ... 3990.shtml

The Spit is also unique in that it raced in the Tinnerman Trophy (or Bendix, I'm getting old!) Race. I think that's why NEAM was really interested in it as they have a pretty nice collection of original Racers. SEE: http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_q ... i_n8920718

I've got slides of this Spit in the temporary Camo Paint when it was on display at NEAM. Just haven't scanned them.

BTW; Len's Hurricane went to Lone Star many years ago and his ex: Royal Canadian Navy, ex: Simsbury, CT, bug sprayer Avenger fuselage became Corky Meyers aircraft. Both were restored and flying. (Hurri until recent the mishap)
I don't know about the others and Len did have a yellow T-28 that he flew for many years. Not sure where that is now.
