Jim,

Just a simple question - if you had Princess flying on Saturday, and it checked out ok, and I don't see any references here saying otherwise, why didn't you bring it to WWII Weekend on Sunday morning???????

I'm a bit disappointed to say the least.

Greg

Greg,
We had 1 15 minute flt just circling the airport on Sat evening.
We really need about an hr of flying before we leave our home airport area. We start at 15 min and the flights get longer. After each flight we check coolant and oil levels and top off. Just running on the ground doesn't always get the fluid levels we they need to be.
Also before we fly an airshow we really need 2+ hours of flying times to get the engine checked out and us feeling comfortable with the machinery.
I'm sorry your disappointed. I am too but I was hugging the porcelain mug fri after an MRI dye made me really sick. I would have really been glad to have worked on fri but I put in about 9 hrs on sat and we only achieved the 1 flight.
Rich

Rich,

I feel a little better now. That is what I get for just reading what is in the thread. I know that if it was fully operational and good to go that Jim would have brought her to Reading. Thanks for the update.

Greg

Greg I'm really bummed too that we couldn't get to Reading. We pushed through midnite one day last week to have her ready but unless I can get at least 2 hours on her above the airport and in the very close local area I can't take her anywhere. Imagine if I had left after I took off in Bald Eagle when the low pressure oil cap came off. I'd have ended up in a field. jb

I'm glad to see that you guys are extremely safe and conservative in regards to flying your planes. It's too bad that ALL warbird operators don't have the same mindset. Hopefully that will change over time.

Safety should ALWAYS trump everything!

Jim,

I have no problem with that. You definitely did the right thing there. Even though it is a short 10 minute flight you need to make sure she is ready before you go off flying any distances. No worries mate, I'll see you in Binghamton??

Greg

I heard a rumor today that the "Princess" may have a new owner shortly. Fact or Fiction?

Fact! It's gone to a new owner. I am not 100% sure on the new owner so I will not speculate. Maybe Jim will want to fill us in at a later date.

Princess looked good at the Mustang Gathering last fall and I am looking forward to seeing it in the air again after this work is completed (or already has been completed??).

Possibly at OSH next month? That would be three B/C models. Nifty!
:D

Work has been completed and she is flying. Not sure if the new owner will have her at Oshkosh or not.

John, besides Roush's P-51B, which other P-51B/C is planning on being at Oshkosh? Is it the new Pacific Fighters' example?

Quite curious to know who the lucky new owner of 'The Princess' is... :D

Is my memory muddled again, or does Roush have another B/C coming along as a salute in the colors of one of Buds ETO buddies who passed in an F-86 later?...P-51, "You've Had It"?? :?
