Not defending anyone here, but it is Tom reilly's airplane. It could have been anyone that you talked to but sometimes the pilots are very busy and have a thousand thoughts in their head and dont come across well socially. Sometimes they are rude because they can be.

I hereby step in and forgive the offender. While I'm not in any way, shape or form authorized to perform such a rash act, I say what the heck... I got to see the cool pix, AND learn of the Gatherings/Aviation Events section.

Who sez you can't teach an old dog new tricks? Erf! Erf! Thanks, all! :P

Child dies at Ala. air show as wind topples tents

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) — A county coroner in Alabama says a 5-year-old was killed when strong winds blew over a row of tents at an air show in Huntsville.

Witnesses tell The Huntsville Times that a generator fell on the child Sunday. The Madison County coroner's office has confirmed the death.

Huntsville Hospital spokeswoman Pam Sparks says 12 others were treated for injuries, but only one, a different child, was admitted to the hospital. That child was in serious condition.

A meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Huntsville says winds reached 48 mph during the storm, which canceled the air show.

The video shows large plastic drums (apparently filled with water) that were used to secure large tents. The tents were on the pavement (taxiway possibly) and so they couldn't stake the tents to the pavement.

Its up to admin to move it if they see fit. Just letting you know that a sub forum exists for this type of post in the future.

I thought the WIX Gatherings/Aviation Events section was for
planning meet and greets at events.

FYI: The WIX Gatherings section can be for reports of shows, etc, but it was created as a spot to announce upcoming shows and gatherings as such. Airshow reports and the like can be posted either place...

In light of the tragic events at the airshow this afternoon, I think the topic should remain here.

I just reported on the story for Aero-News, but media aren't reporting any damage to aircraft... does anyone have any information on that at all?

My prayers go out to the family of the little boy killed and to the family of the other small child that is currently at Huntsville Hospital in critical condition. Such a tragic freak occurrence.
