They showed a huge, I mean huge storage place. That contained brand new stuff from world war 2, almost anything you could imagine was there.
Jeeps, trucks, boxes of aircraft parts, army boots, machine tools, like I said everything. So here we are lead to believe that there are no more old aircraft and parts. Yet this was shown on tv I'm guessing less than 10 years ago. So did anyone else see this and remember it?

I saw that and it was in Pennsylvania, they were talking about how much it cost to store stuff, maybe Chamberburg or Tobyhanna. It was a while ago so I really don't remember much about it. No Corsairs or Mustangs.

I'm trying to find it right now. I have some pilots in that area that live there.

The 60 Minutes show I saw wasn't a auction but just storage depots..and all the stuff the have put away for future needs...

there was something like that on the show, History of the Gun, they had a warehouse of WWII weapons still in the wrappers that could be released to museums

I recall seeeing that show where they unwrapped some medical suppplies that were from WW1 inventory. The place really was amazing for all the stock they had there.

It was the Mechanicsburg Naval Inventory Control/Defense Supply Depot.

Doubt that there are any TBY parts in PA. The USN has a aviation warehouse in PHL which is still in use but doubtful that TBY parts ever got into the supply system given my conversations with the head of Field Service for the TBY, Mechanicsburg wasn't aviation supply and I remember going to WWII surplus sales there in the 60's and there wasn't anything from NavAir. CG-4 gliders were stored and disposed of at Tobyhanna, the Air Service/USAAF/USAF had warehouses at Middletown/Marietta/Connelsville and all have since been emptied, the Army is still using New Cumberland but the only significant aviation activity was CH-47 IRAN's during Vietnam, Letterkenny has always been ordnance (there are a few square miles of bunkers) to include rolling stock and V-2's.

Strube Inc. has a huge stockpile of WWII thru current surplus parts at the Marietta site but it's not catalogued.

That must be the place where they put the Ark of the Covenant in the first Indiana Jones movie. He He Seriously though, if that were the case I'm sure someone like Paul Allen would have found out about it.

Mechanicsburg is between Harrisburg and Carlisle, it's an active USN/DOD installation.
