hi all,

If anyone is curious the AC-47 "Spooky" is currently at Geneseo. She is planning to be at the airshow July 11,12,13.

Yes, what is the current handicapping on what P-40s will be there. Of the ones listed as invited on the site, my take:

AAM/Clyman: should be.
Fallis: seems to have reaffirmed commitment to attend.
Banta: site implies has agreed.
Paul (2x): doesn't seem likely.
Weeks: doesn't seem likely.
Baranaskas: should be.
Yagen: should be doable, but no indication of commitment.
Cavanaugh: doesn't seem likely.
Potter: no way.
Fagan: site implies has agreed.
Brooks: site implies has agreed, but plane hasn't flown.

So we stand at 7 possible. Figuring for mechanical issues and other contingencies, the real number seems like 4 or 5, if lucky perhaps 6. If we held a pool, my money would be on 5.

Jack Cook implied that Paul will be there with his P-40's. Fingers crossed that more then 4-5 will be there. I guess I can be happy with any number but 7 would be nice. :D

Cavanuagh has the show listed on their website so I'm sure they'll be there unless there are mechanical/wx issues. Yagen I'm sure will be there, they brought his P-40 up to Rochester when they made the press release in Feb. He almost always has a presence at Geneseo anyways.

A letter that I recently received from the HAG mentions a Ford Trimotor and a possible appearance by the Lanc. Of course a huge low pressure system over western NY on the weekend of the 12th could dash all of our hopes. Insert weather/mechanical airshow disclaimer here.

Thank you guys for the additional info, rumors and scuttlebutt, this was the type of thing I was hoping to flush out, as I have not religiously scanned the threads for clues. Keep it coming! I sure hope my estimate errs on the low side.

I think Cavanaugh's is coming, barring mechanical problems... Not only is it listed on their website, but Dale "Snort" Snodgrass has this show listed on his website as well, so hopefully that gives us a heritage flight pilot flying a P-40... That would be a cool addition at a P-40 gathering to have a P-40 / A-10 / F-4 / F-16 / F-15 / F-22 - Well, any of these combo's would be awesome... My stepdad is crew chief for Dale so I'll try and confirm this...

P.S. I noticed that Frasca's was not invited, despite it being one of the more nearby aircraft. Has NX40PE lapsed from airworthy status? I don't think it has been to OSH the past several years, where it used to be a regular, although Rudy's Spitfire still comes. A reunion of the two ex-Don Plumb Kittys (Cavanaugh's being the other) would be nice for those of us who remember him.

We were invited by Fred to bring our 2 P-40's but have declined due to the time commitment required as well as the distance to fly. If it were closer to home than we would be there. I hope they have a great turn out and we truly appreciate being ask to participate.

I didn't imply anything.
I said John Fallis will be attending (john's words not mine) with his newly restored P-40N NL49FG and he'll also be at Oshkosh

A shame to hear John!

But distance seems to be a major factor with these old birds. :?
