This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Don, first of all, I'd like to say that given the heat and humidity, I think any progress you the team make right now represents a truely heroic effort !
So I couple of questions if I may ?
First ( I thought I would start with what's possibly the dumb question

)
Is your engine test stand on the ground or is it already firmly attached to a flat bed semi trailer that offers extra ground clearance ?
Second ~ Does the GCW still need "lunch money" donations for food and COLD drinks for the crew working on "TR" and if so, could you tell me where to send a contribution ?

A picture being worth 1000 words...
We can't decide whether to name it...
"Casters and Bollocks" or
"TestiClitos"

What a cute little baby stand that is. It's like an engine run-up trailer...only smaller!

Nathan,
The B17 is still at Hobby: 8411 Nelms, to be exact.
Come on by ANY Saturday except WOH.
Funny you should mention Krogers... I just got a Kroger's card at the store on Telephone Rd. because of the "share" program where they return something like 3% of every purchase to my FAVORITE 501(c)3 which just happens to be Gulf Coast Wing-CAF at the moment!
But it was probably somebody else if you met them at Krogers because I was just dodging the vattos and don't remember talking Bombers with anybody there.

Spanner,
Can you guys use a yellow tagged hydraulic pump? I have one sitting on a shelf in my garage collecting dust.

Absolutely on the hydraulic pump.
Our entire system was "cross-contaminated" when some idjit used a different kind of hydraulic fluid sometime in the deep, dark past.
pm me for more details...

After you get the monster carb on you have to fit the boot on which is attached to the upper cowling. That's not the hard part, the clamp that goes around the boot has a long wing nut to secure it. You can't see it , you can only feel it, it's a bear to get started ( you'll swear its to short to reach ) then after all of that you have to safety wire it. After you fall out of the hole you've been crunched up in it seems like the better part of the day to unfold and restore flexibility.
Thanks! I'd managed to exorcise that particular thrill from the depraved depths of my memory until you bloody mentioned it

Scott will be 90 years young this Aug. 25th.
He is flying his Luscombe Right now to Genneseo...(sp?)
I can't make it to NY, but if you see him give him a salute and ask him to come on by Raiders when he gets back to Texas!

The CAF also receives a percentage of the purchases from amazon.com, just enter amazon.com through the link on the CAF’s Gift Shop
website.
Tell Scott I said hi!
