CORSAIR info

I have a couple questions, hopefully someone knows the answer.

1. can you tell me when or what model of the F4U did they change from the orangeish primer to the green primer?

2. I have seen some models of them with a seal between wing and center section that is mounted to the wing edge and I have seen then on the center section edge, is there a certain model that they did this or is it just by chance where it was put on??
Thanks ahead of time for any replys.

John,

The primer I believe you are refering to is generally known as "salmon". One of the Brewster wings is salmon and the rest of the airframe is in different shades of green chromate. The basic guess I would offer is about Aug of 1944 as a change.

The second question I think you would be refering to is the "vapor" seal. These changed over the course of the development of the Corsair, as refered to in the structural repair manual and others.
