Is this true?

Tulio,
The club decided to change the date for this year's flyin due to a conflict with another airshow or flyin. Rather than start last Thursday, it started today. Last year there were 42 WACOs on the field if you count the ones based there. I think about 10 have come in so far for this year's event. It's possible that turnout will suffer this year due to avgas prices. I also think that many people in the U.S. are under the impression that we are having another flood. We are on the Missouri River and it's not a problem this year. The Mississippi is the problem in our area right now but it is not having much of an effect on the Missouri. I'll try to post some WACO photos Friday evening.

Tulio,
Sorry I missed you. I did not make it down there until after 6:00 PM but I'll be there all day on Saturday. Will you still be in town? The DH-4 and the Canuck went up with a photo plane right after I got there but I forgot my camera. Did you get any shots?

Beautiful stuff! Looking at WACOS is like stumbling into the PACKARD Clubs car show, everything is so spectacular to look at, and everyone is so anxious to tell you about the history of their personal project, you leave with your head spinning.
Thank you for posting the photos!!!!

Al,

I will be back in town probably in a week or so, and I'll try to coordinate meeting with you.

No, I did not get any shots; I left shortly before 4:00, when I found out that the Mustang would not be taking off until around 6:00 PM, and I discovered that I had had enough "sun" for a day : )

Saludos,

Tulio

!Muy Bien! Tulio! Good Stuff
I'm also glad that y'all cleared up the concern of flooding. I was about to start a thread asking about it.

Sorry I missed you Tulio. Those were great shots, thanks for posting them. I only took three or four photos the entire weekend. I suck.

bdk: Thanks largely to fellow WIXer Dan Jones, :prayer: , my Stearman is once again smashing bugs in the pattern at Creve Coeur :D . On the level, no foolin, no BS, after four years, it really flys! I will provide photographic proof of this soon.

Here are a few shots from Saturday.

Cool photos!!! I missed seeing the "Texaco" airplane, though.

I saw two Stearmans, one in Navy markings, the other in USAAC markings. I am going to guess that neither one was yours, Al, right?

They were working on the Zenith when we stopped by to chat. Nice, interesting and odd airplane. Talk about poor visibility over the nose for landing!

I saw the bar inside the hangar, and I also saw a . . . tuba? ??? : )

Thanks, Doug R!!!

Saludos,

Tulio

Man, I feel bad as I missed both Tulio and Al! Guess when you are looking thru the viewfinder you tend not to see who's around you.

Here's what I took Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. I have a few more from Saturday to sort thru and post.

Enjoy the Day! Mark
