This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Oh, that's too bad. What is the reason for that? It seems contrary to their stated goal of having their planes actively flying.

Does anyone know if their 2 seat Zero has been delivered or flown to the Museum at Payne yet?

It's a 15 minute flight for me, so I'll probably pop up to Paine Field
on Friday afternoon to have a look. I've seen the collection before
at Arlington, but I'm looking forward to seeing the P-47 up close
(with whatever paint job they've applied to it so far).

If I had known that was you this afternoon I would have said something. Glad you enjoyed the planes. I was the chubby docent feeding my face by the Zero.

Yeah, I was one of the guys wandering around in the HFM jackets...

The rarity of the beast.
And while I do understand the reasoning behind the decision, part of me would love to see that thing in the air.

The space looks very nice in the pics.
Lots of windows for light, interior painted white, nice low barriers and placards, not a lot of display clutter, airplanes not too closely crowded and can be viewed from multiple sides. A well done air museum layout.
Too bad Seattle didn't put that kind of thought into their new wing.

Yeah, it's a pretty nice facility because VULCAN had no part in it's design!!!! It was built in the late 50's when the base was ADC with 102's.
I worked in that hanger a couple of years ago doing a refurb on an EVERTTS AIRFUEL DC-6
You commented on the tin barn @ MoF, that is a VULCAN building and just like every other VULCAN building in Seattle, the architecture is decidedly weird!
VULCAN selected the design of EMP which looks like a mule chewed candy bar wrapper, they chose the design for the 'Courage Wing' (tin barn) @ Mof, they have a building @ 4th. So. and Jackson where the upper floors are further out over the street than the ground floor, that one is fun to watch the poor window washer swing back and forth to catch the next lower floors ledge so he can haul himself in to do the windows.
Allens private yacht (157 ft.) has a 20 car garage, a 60 or so seat theatre, two helipads, and the barstools are covered with whale foreskins (!!??!!) as one comic commented 'when you rub them, they become chaise lounges'

....forgot to mention, for those who donot know this....VULCAN IS Paul Allen..................................................................He's also a huge STAR TREK junkie

Well, looking at his airplanes, I would venture that he has good taste where it really counts.

Socked in at Olympia. It doesn't look like I'm going to make it. Hopefully the weather is better up that way. Post lots of pictures so I can see what I'm missing.
