Does anyone out there have issues of the
US magazine Air Classics from 1979-1980
which featured an article on the B-29 film
"Last Flight of Noah's Ark".

it is volume 16, number 4 April 1980. I will try and scan it, but to post it, I will have to scan it a .JPG format.

Thanks for posting that -- I'd never seen the article.

I would be very interested in the approximate dates of the filming and of the B-29's flights for the movie, if anybody here has that information. That would help me in figuring what was happening when with Myrtle. Thanks...

probably october 79 or January 80 as AC always ran months behind on just about any article submitted, unless the infamous Michael BLeary wrote it and photographed it .

I would think the filming would have been considerably earlier than that, though, as there is always an extended period of editing etc. between filming and theatrical release and media reviews...

Its a pity the article didn't mention the airstrip in more
detail?? - I suspect it's El Mirage Airfield as on Google Earth
as that looks like the hangar but I'm not sure if a B-29 could
land on that strip??

Ralph Johnson owned the B-29 at the time so if he's still
around, he'll know the filming dates and locations. I have
the FAA records for "Fertile Myrtle" which I'll have to dig out
but from memory they didn't mention any certificates for
this film.
One of the China Lake fuselages was also used in the 1983
film "The Right Stuff" and most of the components from the
B-29 hulks used are still around, although in bits and in storage.
