How sexy would it be to see the MAAM bird in that paint (or lack there of) sceme.

I see the main gear doors hanging down which could appear to be something else. The WIDOW used itty bitty ailerons for feel only and used 'lift interceptors' (spoilers) for roll control

The turret position is occupied by a long-range ferry tank. The nose cap looks like it's been re-skinned with metal..I wonder if this is some sort of trainer or hack aircraft.

The P-61A had two main gear doors, which stayed open when the gear was extended. The B/C models had a setup similar to a B-25, with the main doors only opening when the gear was cycled, and a small third door staying open when the gear was extended.

I was wondering if this was one of the weather-recon birds?

....But "that"' P-61A in '44 would rule out that possibility..a ferry tank sounds good to me... :)
Tho..the nose skin mod you noted begs an answer... :wink:

Jack, do you have any photos taken from inside the rear compartment of a widow, especially from the inside looking out of all that glass?

Thanks!

Jack,

Brilliant pictures (man, I love those P-61's!). It is a bit of a spooky coincidence for me, as I only found this website whilst looking for additional information on this very aircraft for a model that I just about to make of it. Thank you Jack (and others) for posting the pictures - they shall be invaluable as a source of reference to me.

Regards

Derek

Derek;

Welcome aboard! Strap in and keep one hand on your O2 regulator if you are modeller-you'll lose your mind over things and photos that get posted onsite-
