A couple of years ago, I got approached by a group wanting help with a script they were looking to film about the Rhine Crossing jump in 1945. They were looking for my assistance on some "ground pounder" topics that they knew weren't correct, and I asked them how they were going to re-create all those transport planes. They matter-of-factly said that they were going to do what Ted Turner did on "Gettysburg," and get re-enactors and airplane owners to volunteer their time to take part for the experience and would save a lot of money that way.
Upon hearing that, I told them I wanted to be paid up front. :?
Looking back on it, I think they didn't have one penny in the project and expected everyone else to shoulder the financial burden. I guess that's why it never got beyond a crappy script (and no I did nothing with them as they wouldn't commit money for my work).

I want to see the story of Ens. Jesse Brown and LTjg Tom Hudner from the Korean war on the big screen. There wouldn't be a dry eye leaving the theater after seeing this story.........

Like a couple of previously mentioned flicks, I think a movie about The Flying Tigers would be cool, as well as one about Pappy Boyington, maybe along the lines of the book, "Black Sheep One", by Bruce Gamble, IIRC. Since I'm a sucker for Skyraiders, I wonder what kind of movie "My Secret War", by Richard Drury(?) could be. Gee, maybe Rick Sharpe could even be in that one! :) ISTR about 20 or so years ago there was a movie in the works about Chuck Yeager, based on his bios. I wonder what became of it. That might be neat. Lastly, being a "Firefox" fan, I always wondered, since "Firefox" did as well as it did, why Eastwood didn't make a follow-on to it as Thomas' sequel novel, "Firefox Down".

I think a good remake of Fighter Squadron would work!

This one has my vote. Why this isn't a movie I have been wondering my whole life.

There are a couple of good ones in the queue right now. Your patience will be rewarded :D .

I'd lean towards a action-adventure about a transport loaded with a a-bomb crewed by some lady wasps that lands on a remote island and battles flying lizards in Japanese Zeros.

I'd like to see one about Lilya Litvak, the Russian female fighter pilot and ace. Her story would have plenty of drama and romance, and plenty of action for airplane lovers.

It's also an aviation theater of WWII that's been sorely neglected in film.

Without giving up proprietary information, can you give us any clues as to either general themes and/or the airplanes involved?

The only ones I know for sure are:

The Pacific War (Band of Brothers follow-on)
The Dambusters
Amelia Earhart

The AVG movie is long over due. Like has been stated--the real life characters need no embellishment.

And the low-level 5th Air Force B-25 movie sounds like a real winner if done right.

But how about that horrible week in October 1943 leading up to the second Schweinfurt Raid when the 8th AF lost more than 150 bombers in a six day period?

Between October 8, 1943 and October 14, 1943, 141 B-17 bombers were shot down during four missions to Germany. This total does not include the numbers that were too damaged to repair and those lost in operational accidents. This period could spotlight the horror of the air war over Germany (before long range escorts) and the courage of our bomber crewmen facing the Luftwaffe. This could be a great movie.

A film of the 1948 Arab-Israeli Air War would be a natural. Rumor has it Lou Lenart, one of the 1948 IAF pilots (and co-producer of Iron Eagle II) wants to make it. I also heard Spielberg is interested. We'll see.

I also agree with Ripcord. The story of Jesse Leroy Brown, if properly handled, would make a great flick. Action, drama, cheers and tears, etc.

Of course, I'd like to see my WWII novel turned into a film. Now I just have to finish the thing ...

The Pacific of course is a well know one that has promise to be high quality. There is another that promises to be as good or better that I can't say anything bout other than it involves mainly B-25s.
