Just recd this press release from Jim Hodgson

Quote:
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Media Day for Cowtown Warbird Roundup Announced.

FORT WORTH, TX - May 21, 2008. The Fort Worth Veteran's Memorial Air Park
has set May 30th as a Media Day for this year's 5th annual Cowtown Warbird
Roundup (CWR). This year's theme is "A Salute to Our Veterans Past, Present
and Future."

Over fifty warbirds will converge on Fort Worth's Meacham Field on Friday
May 30th and Saturday May 31st. Most of the current, active duty warbirds,
will arrive Friday afternoon over a period of four hours from 1 PM to 5 PM.
The Veteran's Memorial Air Park (VMAP), the host for the event, will set up
a special area on the airfield for members of the media to view the arrivals
close up.

Military aircraft will be arriving at Meacham Field from across the United
States to take part in the two day CWR. To participate, media members are
asked to check in for a ramp pass beginning at 11 AM on Friday morning the
30th at 505 NW 38th Street, Fort Worth. Although the majority of the
arrivals will begin at 1 PM, two C-130 Hercules, based at JRB Carswell, will
arrive at approximately 11:30 AM.

The CWR is intended as a community based, family oriented event to salute
veterans and give local residents an opportunity to learn about military
aviation, inspect warbirds close up and meet the flight crews. In addition
to the arriving aircraft, the hangar of the Vintage Flying Museum, the CWR
venue, will be filled with local non profit organizations, commercial
vendors and exhibitors.

New this year, will be airplane rides. Visitors will be able to buy a ride
in a variety of warbirds, including a B-25 Mitchell bomber, a C-47
transport, a Vietnam era Huey helicopter and others. All rides will be
conducted from the Meacham Field terminal building both Friday and Saturday.

In addition, in partnership with the Fort Worth Department of Aviation, a 2
mile fun run on Meacham Field Taxiways and Runway will be conducted on
Saturday morning at 11 AM. This rare opportunity for runners, joggers and
walkers will take place as part of the opening activities following a
Thunder Run by local members of the Patriot Guard Riders
<http://www.patriotguard.org/> , and a skydive entry by 019Foundations
<http://www.americashuey.com/> /America's Huey spokesman Dana Bowman
<http://www.danabowman.com/> at 10:15 AM. More details can be found at
www.cwr08.com.

After the run, other activities will take place. The public will be treated
to a variety of "briefings" on subjects such as History of Aviation in Fort
Worth, the 019Foundations <http://www.americashuey.com/> and it's Snowball
Express and Wounded Warriors iBot program, a documentary movie premiere of
"One Tough Ride, the OV-10 Bronco Story." <http://www.ov10film.com/> by
Jami Clayman and other subjects. There will also by activities for
children in the Kids Korner with a bounce house, face painter, balloon
artist, train and climbing wall. Warbird and airplane rides will be
available too.

Cowtown Warbird Roundup is open to the public and admission is free. A
$10.00 parking charge is required for close in parking on the airport off
West Long Street. Motorcycles can park for $5.00.

The Fort Worth Veteran's Memorial Air Park operates the OV-10 Bronco
Readyroom and the Forward Air Controller's Museum. Proceeds from this event
will help these groups fund various educational programs including aircraft
restorations. The program goals are to inspire our community's young people
to careers in aviation or the military.

Scheduled aircraft arrivals for Friday include:

We're going to have a table where we will be signing up Huey riders.

I'd say meet up at the Huey but it will be over on the hot ramp.

I'm currently in search of the proper funding source (the "management" isn't convinced of the "need" ) for just such an opportunity.
