Thank you very much for the link. Back in the 80s there was talk that CPA was to join the CWH collection, though I didn't know that the airplane needed recovery. Nothing ever happened and I always wondered what happened to the plane. It is good to learn that it is still there and hopefully will be recovered soon.

Was it C-FCPA or CF-CPA ??????

In those early days of aviation in Canada, aircraft registrations used to begin by CF-XXX, just like the old registrations in the US started by NC000...

Anyhow, I was at the presentation today and let me tell you it was awesome!

There was more than 300 people on site. The hangar was arranged with chairs and a screen for the presentation, with Air Marcel's planes in the background. We could visit the premises and talk with the team members before the actual presentation began.

Then, we saw a ton of pictures of the whole expedition, heard many stories, some funny, and there was even a professionally produced film of about 6 minutes presented at the end. It made my hair stand up on my arms...

What a crazy enterprise !!! But I can tell you this. Judging by what I saw and heard today, I do not have any doubt that this great aircraft will be brought back to life ! Oh, and we were told also that the aircraft will definitely be restored to its civilian version, as the first commercial passenger airliner of the 30's Canadian Pacific Airlines (the CPA in its registration...). Its requisitioned military life never actually started so it would be insignificant to restore it to that status. So, polished aluminum it will be with CPA markings, and all.

You could taste the undying enthusiasm of the team and they were able to communicate it very well to the assembled audience. There should be a copy of the PowerPoint presentation we saw today available for download soon on the site. I only wish they could make the film available there as well for all to see !!!!

Kudos for a job well done !

I will be at their home base yesterday, getting back my C-140 after some minor maintenance. If I run into the owner I'll ask and report back.

It was Lodestar CPA. I remember it was to be a restoration project with a Montreal Wing. I never really knew the details and it obviously never happened.

You are correct that a Beech C-45 later became CF-CPA after the Lodestar registration was cancelled, I assume after the accident. I think the C-FCPA registration for the Beech is a typo. The Beech was canceled from the register in 1983.

Pretty curious also Michel; specially with the news about the Spit.

After all; je reste just'à coté  sti

When I have a second or so & a break from the daily routines I would like to stop in St-Hyacinthe with the kids one weekend.

If possible that is :?:

Take good care
