OK Fellas, y'all expressed interest about a week ago. It's gonna happen
and everyone is welcome..

On June 4 -5, 2008 Battleship Park in Mobile, AL will host a tribute to Alabama’s native son Jack Weeks who lost his life at the controls of a Lockheed A-12 Blackbird on June 4, 1968. Then a covert CIA
mission the details were declassified only in 2007. Prior to his final mission Weeks had a stellar career as a USAF officer and was the pilot who first found the captured USS Pueblo in Wonson Harbor, North Korea.

Weeks and the other men of Project OXCART were some of the best Cold War Warriors that the United States had. We enjoy today the freedoms they helped preserve. The speeds and altitudes at which they regularly flew remain unprecedented; and they did it with ‘50s and 60s technology, indomitable courage and determination.

A commemoration will be held June 4th with speeches, presentations, and a flyover(s). On June 5th the remaining OXCART A-12 pilots of the Roadrunner Internationale will sit for a symposium. They will relate their experiences, take questions, sign memorabilia, etc.

Make plans now to attend. This is a rare opportunity to interact with men who made history and defended our freedom. All the details are not in place yet for this event but will be posted.

Below is a link to further info about Jack Weeks and also Battleship Park’s site.

I am going as well. I am not going to miss the chance to meet these guys in person. Honoring them is way overdue.

Yes, there will be an A-12 flyby......but it will be VERY quick......like
Mach 3.33.....so watch closely or you might miss it........heh....heh....

On a serious note...........the CIA gift shop will attend and they will be selling
souvenirs in the hangar. Everything from challenge coins to t-shirts and
ball caps to playing cards will be available. Some of this stuff is not avail-
able anywhere else. The CIA is very protective of their logo. Not a lot of
folks get to use it.

Now let me stress that the important part of this event is to honor the
Covert Cold War Warriors of the Oxcart program and Jack Weeks sacrifice.
We should not lose sight of that, but for you collectors out there this is a
rare opportunity.........
