Warbird Information Exchange

The B-25 at Franklin is privately owned and last I heard it was for sale as is for what you can get a flyer for. The history of this airplane is filled with lies, half truths, rumors and some WAG'ing. The last that I saw it fly was back in 1996, a year after she suffered an engine fire on take-off from NAS Norfolk after their 1995 show. It was the port engine, after arriving at Franklin the engine was found bad after some ground turns a few months later. It has not moved off the old compass rose in most likely 5 years.

Looks like it is sitting on a WWII bomber hardstand... Must feel "at home" there...

Franklin was an old Navy base back in World War 2. Since civilian pilots were not allowed to fly in the defense zone along the coast, the factory pilots would fly the new birds in to Franklin. Then the Navy would pick them up and the bases along the coast.
