Couldn't help but notice in the thread where the fellas are doing all of the work on Frenesi that Vlado chimed in that Moonbeam is getting a bunch of work done to her as well. The Frenesi work is fascinating to watch...any chance that another thread could be started by someone at the shop where Moonbeam is being worked on might consider sharing pix and info as well? I guess Vlado would have to be OK with all of us looking at Moonbeam without her clothes on as well :P

Thanx in advance...

Thanks for the inquiry.
Most of the work (visible work at least) is done.
The wings are interior and exterior painted & getting new plumbing installed right now.
The fuselage is waiting for the rebuilt engine mount to arrive. The new motor (orange color - to track oil leaks and attract bees) is ready.
I'll get as many pix as I can. Most of the deep work was done 'off premises' by the fine-excellent shops in N Dakota, so I do not have pix from that process.
Moonbeam will keep her colors with a few markings details added from old photos discovered over the years. (the original Moonbeam always retained the horizontal tail's black bands).
(Rich has done an excellent job of keeping everyone in the loop with info and photos - great job!)
Thx again,
Vlado

Hi Vlado...Thank You Sir! Any and all pix and info you can provide on Moonbeam's makeover are certainly appreciated! As I said, it is just pure fascination to see the work that gets done to keep all of the old girls flying and in tip-top shape. Seems as though there are more people here than just me that find it so fascinating to see the work :)

Please forgive my ignorance, but how did you decide to have all of this work done? I mean is there a certain number of hours on Moonbeam that she needed all of these things done or is it simply a matter of getting it done now rather than later? Is there a shop there in Chicagoland that takes care of her everyday routine maintenance or do you have a full-time mechanic at your hangar?

Sorry for all of the mundane questions...I guess maybe somehow the more we can glean from owners such as yourself, the more we can try to live vicariously through your input :)

I know you fly her around a lot as I have seen her many times at airshows throughout the Midwest and in the Heritage Flights. I don't know if you ever get tired of hearing it, but thank you Sir very much for sharing her with all of us!

I'm another one who loves the restoration photos, such as Gary & Rich's. A2A & flight line photos are cool, but to see an A/C under going restoration & seeing what makes them tick can't be beat.
