I must apologize to all the troops who put up with my "non-warbird" post. I know some of you were probably "put-off" by it, but I appreciate your not jumping in my face about it.:D
Mrs. Mudge has been extremely upset by the thought that she might lose hundreds of hours of work and I came to the only place I could think of to get help.

I want to also give a large THANK YOU to all the troops who gave me ideas on how to remedy the problem.

Youse troops are the best. :drink3:

I always thought we were all friends and here to help each other.

If anyone was "put off" by your request for help...........well screw em', life is short and everyone shouldn't take life so seriously!

You said that the indicator light comes on at a specific point in the insertion and then goes out. That reminds me of when you get a loose wire in old pair of headphones. Have you tried holding it in place or jiggling it to see if a connection can be made long enough to make it visible and yank the data?

It could be worth one more try before you ship it off.

Yeah, I've wiggled and jiggled enough to make a belly dancer nauseous. Doesn't help.

Mudge the wriggler

maybe you should get Mrs. Mudge to Jiggle while you wiggle. If the thumbdrive don't get fixed, at least your having a good time! :P

I don't see what the big deal is. My guess is probably most people here don't mind an off-topic in one's or two's, but a steady barrage becomes unbearable. Believe me, Mudge, you're no HGUCSU, so you're fine. Glad you got the help you need! :D

BTW, I too have lost data before. I've found that nearly any kind of data can almost always be recovered, as long as the physical media is not damaged too bad, i.e. - fire, or water damage. It all depends on how much it is worth to you. Data recovery specialists can almost always get data for you, if you're willing to spend the money! The harder to recover the data, the more it will cost. Unfortunately, I know this from experience.

There's a knowledgeable group at Windows BBS who are willing to help with anything computer-ish.

(This post is intended as a friendly hint and not for traffic extraction.)
