For those who aren't yet aware, Suffolk, Va. got hit by a devastating series of tornadoes last night: Does anyone know how the Fighter Factory faired?

I may be mistaken, but I don't think there were any fatalities, although many homes and businesses were totally turned inside out.

I haven not heard anything offical but it seems like the Franklin area was untouched durning the storm. I'll try to head over there this weekend and check it out. Any Dominion Chapter CAF guys have any updates?

Franklin was not involved in the tornado so the B-25 is still dying a slow death on the ramp there.

Lucky Lady is still there - still unlucky - the fellow at the airport told me she has been there 15 years - Why hasn't someone tried to save her and why was she abandoned in the first place?

It's abandoned? That can't be so. It looks to be in fairly good condition. Why is it just sitting there? Is no one taking care of it?

It also included more pictures of "Lucky Lady" and made me realize she's missing an engine. Does WFU stand for Wake Forest University? That's the only thing that comes up when I google it.

Anyways, can someone explain this plane's situation to me?

WFU, means Way Focked Up, ok, it might mean something else, but it works in this case.

She is missing her port engine - I took photos of the mount, but didnt post them - Other than that she looks fairly complete down to the Norden bombsight in her nose and guns - It's a crying shame to leave her out there and let her rot and become a birdhouse. I offered the guy at the airport $5.00 for her - he said I'd have to take it up with the guy in Texas, but good luck since "he doesn't talk to me anymore". Surely she must be mounting up some hefty ramp fees!

WFU? I saw that too - not sure what it means either, but "Way Fricked Up" sounds very very apt in this case.

Anyone have any knowledge of the situation? Maybe Fighter Factory can pick her up? I hear they are getting a B-25 - my source says it buzzed the Virginia Beach airport yesterday (Friday).

WFU means Withdrawn From Use in the military. Shame to let it rot there. It looks to be in amazing condition for an aircraft that's been sitting there for 15 years. Anyone know who owns it?

Isn't that the same B-25 in a Warbir Digest article a few issues back? If so, then from what the article said, the owners have recieved a few significant offers with no acceptance.

I believe Fighter Factory's B-25 is the one their Atlanta, GA location Aviation Institute of Maintenance A&P school refurbished a year or two ago.(And my school got a Neuport 17 project- which they assigned to an instructor- not the students! I was at AIM Philadelphia, formerly Quaker City School of Aviation Maintenance)
