Since cars and airplanes are always on my list to see, I went to Halfmoon Bay and got some photos of some warbirds. I also got to go for a ride in a helicopter since I've never been on one.

They did offer rides on this also..

This was the helicopter for $45 dollar rides. Nice cheap thrill

For a little more they had rides in this also...

Great Pics!

I usually don't consider the Hughes H-55 much more than a bugsmasher, but they are, technically, warbirds! They were used for primary helicopter training back in the 1960s... I used to work on one back in A&P school last year, and was surprised by the miitary dataplates...

I didn't get a great shot of the Sea Fury. It was at the end of the viewing line and there were a bunch of people crowded on each other to view the runway. But this is what I got....

Man, those Yak-9's really turn me on. 8) Whomever was responsible for producing those new-production airframes - thank you! The warbird world is definitely a richer place because of it.

Half Moon Bay was a good show with a wide variety of vehicles besides airplanes. Here is a shot of the whole show taken through a bug splattered windshield (I cleaned it three times that day!) They don’t call it a Bugsmasher for nothing you know.

Image

The aircraft displays are at the top left of the shot. All the stuff near the camera were the vehicles on display. There were classic cars, antiques, motor cycles, steam engines, hit and miss engines, trucks, hot rods, tractors and everything else you could think of. It is a cool show that I recommend flying to. Don’t drive if you can avoid it because of the bottleneck traffic problems. It is always amazing to see how far backed up the traffic is on Highway 1 up Devil’s slide and to the South.

Here are two shots of the Warbird and aircraft display area.

That's it. I've decided I'm moving there when I get back to the states. Who owns that Comet replica?

Great pictures but there were some airplanes blocking the good views of the Herc!

Guess it's my turn to join in from another view. A few with some quick editing.
Number one of course is Taigh in the Beech.

The Comet was commisioned by Tom Wathen, and is based at Hollister Airport, CA.

Almost forgot, and for Scott, here's a picture of the Herc
