I can remember flying on a Connie as a child. As early as seven years old I wanted to know what kind of plane was which. How many others here have Connie experiences? Any old Connie pilots here?

I went by Fantasy of flight during Sun n fun and it seemed as though the Connie there was not being restored in any way. Have they decided to restore one of the planes from Maine instead?

I believe that Lufthansa's plan has always been to restore one of the Maine Starliners to airworthy status. I do not think that the one flown to Florida a few years back is involved in this project in any way.

From the Wall Street Journal a couple of weeks ago:

I can't wait to 2010 to see and hear one of these beauties in the air again!

Ralph Petterson has updated his outstanding "Connie Survivors" website with news about the dedication of the new hangar in Maine to resstore the Lufthansa Starliner:

Can't wait to see this beauty restored and in the air in a couple of years or so.

:D

Thanks for the link, M.P.! Good information.

I have saved the link as one of my favorites.

I look forward to following the progress toward the planned 2011 flight.

Two vintage airliners I'd like to fly: Ford Tri Motor and Connie. one (IMHO) the first modern airliner, the other the ultimate in piston airliners, not to mention the best looking airliner ever.

Thanks for the update.
