I heard that the Fighter Factory Corsair had a landing mishap today at Suffolk, anybody know what happened?

Posted on "Fence Check" website....

"WAVY TV 10 in Hampton Road's Virginia reported tonight that there was an F4U Corsair that had it's landing gear collapse in Suffolk Virginia today at SFK airport.

From the video it appeared that the Corsair was Tom Duffy's Marine's Dream. The report didn't give much information but it appeared like the damage was minimal. The prop even looked to be in rather good shape considering that the main gear had collapsed. The report didn't mention who the pilot was, but stated that they were in good shape with no known injuries."

Really? I wasn't able to find anything on Wavy 10's site or the net for that matter.

A shame if true.

I do not believe it was Marine's Dream that had the mishap. That aircraft is based at Millville, NJ and I don't believe they were down in Virginia this weekend. More than likely it was the Fighter Factory's FG-1D Corsair. I cannot say for sure yet but both aircraft have similar paint schemes and the only way to really tell is to look at the nose art or the aircraft number. Marine's Dream has the girl painted on the front forward fuselage and the number 19 on the fuselage whereas the FF Corsair has a pirate flag skull and crossbones and the number 31 on the fuselage. If I find out for sure I will post it here.

It was relayed to me, direct from one of the pilot's of Marine's Dream, that the airplane was not in a mishap and is fine.

I couldn't find anything on the TV stations news website. I looked through pretty much all of it last night, and nothing on an aircraft incident.

It was the Fighter Factory Corsair. I guess it landed fine and then one gear fell. I hear the pilot is fine. It messed up the wing and prop a bit, but did not hurt the belly.
