Somewhere out there is my grandfather's car....he worked for vought as an artist in the promotions dept and they lived nearby....it was fun to get back there in 2005 and see the place and the hangars (now owned by Atlantic Air) and see the factory...a trip back in time for me.....just wish some of my family could've come with and my grandfather was still alive to make the trip...

Really this side of the original field hasn't changed much in the past 50 years. The 4 large hangers in the photo are in fact owned by Atlantic Air, and the far right one. (The one not in the picture) was used for the Corsairs over CT show, in where we set up our mock factory and stored various aircraft over the weekend.

But the two hangers in the upper left side of the picture are the original hangers that i believe were constructed in the early 1920's when the field was referred to as Avon Field. The right one is still in service with a small flying school. Though in bad shape, she is still intact. The left one is in far worse condition, with huge holes in the wooden roof, and large cracks in the brick foundation and walls.

These two hangers are also complemented by the terminal building in between and the windsock, right behind it. The terminal building is now in shambles, haven't being opened in about 12 years, and the windsock is still going on (barely) for more years than i could remember.

The factory in the picture is also abandoned having been closed down in 98 when my dad worked there. But a recent auction was held for the property and the highest bidder has one property. It is destined to become in fact one of the largest movie studio production facilities in North America. :D [/i]

Ahh...my young padawan. You are getting this history thing down very well. You must finish your training, for you are close, but you are not a Jedi yet!

P: Noise coming from under instrument panel. Sounds like a midget pounding on something with a hammer.

S: Took hammer away from midget.
