Sun Fun Pics ( About 80 or so)

I did the FL Trip thing and I'm getting ready to head back home to WV. So I'm going to post a few pics instead of sleeping............

We did the USS Alabama, Pensacola, Naval Aviation Museum, Eglin AFB, Kermit's Fantasy of Flight and SNF at Lakeland. A few things here. All the pics are at::::>

The Alabama is making a nice recovery from the flooding.

Pensacola is still an awesome museum (and I've been to about all of them now). They have the Blue Angels in for practice on Tues and Weds most weeks. Its open to the public, starts at 8:30AM and lasts to 9:30AM. Be there 7:30 AM or so. There were about 1500 people watching by my estimate (area 300' wide 100' deep). Weather was marginal and raining, so it was a short practice and lousy pics (yeah, the solo got the tailhook about 4" from the runway on take off). Someone brought a red Triumph TR-3 in from GA and it attracted as much attention in the parking lot as anything..........

Cougar on a stick is at the FL/AL Border Welcome Center to FL on the Eastbound Lane. A few miles down on the other side there is an A-4 in Blue Angel's paint..........

Eglin will be closed (inside that is) until the end of the month for heating and cooling work, so no P-47 or P-51 shots........ Outside is still open, not a bad place to go.

Kermit's place is nice as always, I went there Friday when I was done COOKING in the sun. He flew the Storch and it was pretty cool. Rest of the place is about like last time.......

Sun n Fun was OK. Thank you CAF for showing up. Looked like attendence was worse than last year. I was there Weds, Thurs, Sat. Sunday's weather was BAD and we went elsewhere (another post for that one). I never saw BILL GREENWOOD or the Spit, must have had it hidden somewhere. Tim Savage's T-6 had to be one of the nicest planes I EVER saw, got some good shots of it. It is hard to beat (except possibly by N25Y P-38 which is also amazing. Another super plane made the trip from WV (my home) was Scott and Bill Yoak and the P-51 QuickSilver. Several others were also exceptional..........

A few pics are here, the rest are at the WEBSHOTS link above.

Great pics!

I noticed the wing of Sea Fury "Rif Raf" in the background, and it got me to thinking..if she's a racer, why does she still have folding wings? Seems like that would add a lot of unnecessary extra weight.

Mark, I didn't take my plane to Sun N Fun, which turned out to be a good decision due to the bad weather on the way. American was $219, ROUND TRIP from Denver to Tampaif booked in advance.
That Storch is great, hard to believe unless you see it fly.

Wow I feel like a total slacker, I went to the NMONA about 1 month ago and all I have posted is about 6 pictures

Thanks for taking the time to post some shots of Sun n Fun. Maybe someday I'll get there.
