Cheapskates like me know that if you go to Udvar-Hazy after 4 PM there is no parking fee, and you still get 1 1/2 hours to look at stuff. Helps to live nearby though, and stop by every so often to see what's new.

I know we did at least two field trips specifically to the NASM on the Mall. When we'd go home, we'd be so excited that our parents would HAVE to take us back there.

My niece and nephew are in the same school system now. It's a rare occasion when they get to go on a field trip. Even my daughter, who is in a preschool program through the school system has only gone on a field trip to a farm around Halloween to pick up a pumpkin.

When I was stationed at Davis-Monthan AFB, my daughter went to school on base. The kids were NEVER taken on a field trip to the Pima Air & Space Museum - right behind the base (one time they went on a field trip to a fabric store)! These are the kids of airplane people!
